Mr Frank Smolenaers has extensive Public Health experience (over 32 years) initially as a Medical Laboratory Scientist & Lab Manager, then as a Health IT Engineer, consultant and CTO for the last 18 years.
He has been appointed as an Honorary Research Fellow, Health and Biomedical Informatics Centre (HaBIC), and as a Sessional Lecturer to the faculty of Computing and Information Systems (in association with the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences), to assist with eHealth research and to develop and deliver curriculum for the “IT Infrastructure in eHealth” elective for the “Master of Information Technology Specialisation in Health”.
Mr Smolenaers is the CTO and Director of Technology at the Australian Centre for Health Innovation (CHI). He has designed, developed and run health Information and communication systems at Metropolitan Health services and the Department of Health, as well as at the Alfred Hospital and the Australian Centre for Health Innovation. His roles have required liaison with all levels of Public Health (hospital and government) management and staff, often through change management, requirements analysis and strategic activities.
Mr Smolenaers is a delegate from the Australian Centre for Health Innovation for the Australia India Trauma Systems Collaboration (AITSC) and has designed and implemented several Video Conferencing based TeleHealth solutions in recent years. His role for AITSC is to advise on all aspects of technology design, including public health smartphone/tablet applications and telemedicine.
