Dr Sushma Sagar is a Trauma Surgeon currently working as an Additional Professor in Trauma Surgery at JPN Apex Trauma Center, AIIMS. She completed her graduation (MBBS) and post-graduation in General Surgery from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow and SN Medical College Agra respectively.
Dr Sagar is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Association of Women Surgeons. She is a trained burns and reconstructive surgeon with special interest in trauma reconstruction.
Dr Sagaris a course director and faculty for the Advanced Trauma Life Support course in India. She is an associate editor for the Journal of Wound Care and is recorded in the Limca book of records for surgery; a teaching faculty with National Institute of Disaster Management, India.
Dr Sagar is actively involved in the management of trauma patients at JPN Apex Trauma Centre, along with teaching and training of doctors and nurses at this centre. In the last 10 years, JPN Apex Trauma Centre has brought trauma care in India on par with developed nations and is referred to as the best model for trauma care in the country and adjoining SAARC nations.
Dr Sagar has contributed to trauma reconstructive surgery and soft tissue management of complicated and chronic wounds. She started a dedicated Amputation clinic at JPN Apex Trauma Center in 2013 and is involved with rehabilitation of amputees and bed sore patients.
Dr Sagar is co-investigator for AITSC at JPN Apex Trauma Center. She is involved in the development and implementation of Intervention 4 – Rehabilitation Prescription which is looking at current rehabilitation practices following traumatic injury in India.
