In a country where road accidents have assumed epidemic proportions, India’s first Level 1 Trauma Centre, Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Center (JPNATC) sets benchmarks in patient care, teaching, public education, injury prevention and research, both nationally and internationally. Its Emergency Department was opened to the general public in New Delhi in November 2007, and is now currently the best integrated Level 1 Trauma Centre in India and South Asia.
The Faculty and Staff of JPNATC aim to provide state of the art, compassionate patient care to all acutely injured patients and those requiring its specialized services. They are committed to academic excellence in teaching and research, and strive to be leaders in the specialty of Trauma Care, while developing an environment that fosters personal and professional pride, satisfaction and growth.
Medical facilities consist of six state of art operating theatres, 178 inpatient and 30 Emergency (ED) beds, including 32 ICU beds to provide both in-hospital and emergency care. The Center also acts as a referral hospital, where patients are sent by zonal public and private hospitals, non-zonal hospitals from around India, and military and para-military hospitals all over the country. With a large staff, JPNATC has a full range of surgical and non-surgical specialists including: emergency department, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, vascular, reconstructive and plastic surgery, anaesthesiology and critical care, interventional radiology, laboratory medicine, and forensic sciences.
